As part of the commitment to providing students with a safe and welcoming living environment, Living at La Trobe through the Residential Education Team, are responsible for implementing comprehensive programs, initiatives and services that support academic preparedness and achievement, social engagement, personal responsibility and health and wellbeing. Our commitment to our residents commences from pre-arrival with our WELCOME induction where the foundation for our spectrum of services and support is established - Wellbeing, Events, Leadership, Community, Overnight, Mind and Engagement (WELCOME). As students move through their residential journey, they are supported by professional staffing and student leadership structure to ensure that our residents have an optimum residential experience.
Residential Education introduced WELCOME as an icon to simplify, encapsulate and promote our range of portfolios. Individually, the letters stand for -
Wellbeing:
Assisting our residents to maintain a state of happy and healthy living by utilising different resources, knowledge and support available at La Trobe.
Events:
Our events are ‘memory-makers’. Creating events that promote friendship, learning and incredible experiences that last a life time.
Leadership:
Through leadership building communities that foster learning, academic achievement, as well as personal and social development.
Community:
Promoting inclusiveness, strength and connectedness amongst all La Trobe residents.
Overnight:
Being on-call for our residents 24/7, providing after-hours support, assistance and pastoral care while residents live on-campus.
Mind:
Providing educational programs, arts and cultural initiatives, and individual learning support to assist residential students in their academic and career development.
Engagement:
Through student engagement, we are able to create a heightened awareness of all that is available to La Trobe residents in the form of events, activities, resources and support.
