Will we be able to continue living on residence?
The University is committed to ensuring that our students living in the residences have access to safe accommodation. However as most teaching is moving online residents who can and wish to move out are encouraged to do so. For those who must stay, you are required to complete the Intended Residence Form, and rental payments will continue as usual although any student experiencing severe financial hardship is asked to please discuss this matter with staff. In the event that the University is forced to close any residential locations we will arrange suitable alternative accommodation for all residents who have no alternative and are unable to return home.
I would like to leave my residence and go home. Can I do that?
Residents who are able to return home and continue studying online for Semester 1, are required to do so.
What are my rental arrangements if I choose to leave on campus accommodation?
Students who can return home can pause their rental payment as of their departure date. Students are advised to take any personal belongings of value with them. Should you wish to return to the residences, rental payments will recommence. Non valuable belongings can be left in your room, if you need to access your belongings during the pause please contact us.
What is the check-out process?
An easy check-out process has been designed. Students are asked to check out by Tuesday 31st of March and check back in when returning so Accommodation Services can know your whereabouts. Please bring your card and wrist band when checking out. If you have already left you can contact (03) 5444 7425 or our email at residences-bendigo@latrobe.edu.au to make arrangements.
I may need to attend face-to-face classes on campus, how will my residential arrangement work?
Students who may need to stay in their room on a temporary basis due to a face to face class can contact Accommodation Services to discuss flexible arrangements.
What are the current cleaning practices for accommodation on campus?
Additional cleaning has been implemented across the residential precinct with an increased focus on the common rooms, bathrooms, and kitchens. Hand sanitiser is also provided throughout residences, along with fact sheets around best hygiene principles – the most effective way to prevent virus spread.
Will residential events go ahead?
In accordance with government regulations, all events will be postponed until further notice. We understand that this is disappointing, we hope to reschedule events when it is safe to do so. Academic Mentoring will go ahead via ZOOM. You will be sent instructions on how to use ZOOM by your academic mentor.
Why have the gyms in the residences been closed?
As of midday Monday 23 March, the Government has imposed additional restrictions on some public gathering places. All indoor fitness facilities and gyms are required to be closed until further notice. At the moment, it is still possible to use walking paths (with appropriate social distancing considerations) that surround the campuses.
What do I need to know about group gatherings in the residences?
All group gatherings including residents rooms and other indoor spaces are ceased, as public health authorities have advised that these can no longer be held safely. This includes BBQs, dinner parties and house parties as advised by the Federal Government. Co-operation with this arrangement is appreciated, along with strict adherence to physical distancing requirements of 4 metres squared at all times. Guest approvals continue to be suspended.

The Accommodation Services team is working hard to ensure residents receive regular updates, these updates will be sent to your student email. We ask that if you are coming into the office reception areas that you maintain appropriate social distancing of at least four square metres between yourself and others.
